MALTA -- It is with saddened hearts, but a lifetime of wonderful memories, that we mourn the passing of our mother, Lois Pauline Zollinger Elison, on Thursday, Jan. 30, 2003.

Mom was born on Jan. 6, 1915, in Providence, Utah. She was the second child born to Aaron and Hannah Pearl Neddo Zollinger. Mom cherished her early memories in Cache Valley and a little piece of her heart remained there when the family left. Her father spent summers in Sublett and eventually moved the entire family to that area.

On Jan. 3, 1935, Mom married Lano Adams Elison, at the home of her parents in Sublett. Their marriage was later

solemnized in the Logan, Utah Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They recently celebrated their 68th anniversary. For the eight years following their marriage Dad worked on road construction and they moved frequently between Idaho and Nevada. In 1943, they came back to Malta to stay and raise their family. Mom readily admitted that she never adjusted to the wind and dirt of Malta. She loved to read and instilled a love of reading in all of us at an early age. She dreamed of one day returning to Cache Valley. For many years she grew lots of flowers and was an excellent seamstress. An active member of the LDS Church, she had served in many capacities including Relief Society president for several years.

She will be deeply missed by her husband Lano; as well as her children, Gar (Marilyn) Elison of Salt Lake City, Clair (Jan) Elison of Levelland, Texas, Allie (Kent) Heber of Everett, Wash., Paula (Elvis) Dean of Casper, Wyo., Doyle (Glenda) Elison of Preston, Marla (Steve) Deakins of Salt Lake City, and Emily (Rod) Engar of Salt Lake City. She was very proud of her 33 grandchildren, living in 11 various states as well as Okinawa, Japan and her 18 great-grandchildren. She will be missed by her siblings, Pearl Hall, Asiel Zollinger, Heber Zollinger, Orson Zollinger, and Dorothy Murphy.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

We are especially appreciative and send our most sincere gratitude, thank you, and love to Cathy, Maria and Amador, and Karen for their daily tender and compassionate care on Mom's behalf the past year and a half. We extend an appreciation to all who have consistently left plates of food, dropped by or phoned to express their friendship and care to our parents.

The funeral will be held at noon Monday, Feb. 3, 2003, at the Malta 1st and 2nd Ward LDS Chapel. Burial will be in Valley Vu Cemetery in Malta.

Friends may call at the church from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, and from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. Monday prior to the services.

Arrangements are under the direction of Payne Mortuary in Burley.
